Brown leather binding is unusual in that the front is three-dimensional, depicting a Guiraldes scene of a guacho on horseback, with a wagon and pampas grass. The back is carefully impressed in a small overall diamond design. The famous poem was first published in 1872, and in English translation by Walter Owen in 1935. This version is handsomely done and show only lightest weear at edges of the spine. The story is of a prototypical hero, set in the wilds of the Argentine plains. 328 pages.
