Bio of Mrs. Johnston by Dr. Mildred Mayhall. Developed under the auspices of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, to preserve the material for future generations. Many plates of wild flowers extant in Texas at the time of the Civil War. 97 excellent plates of flowers, printed on full page each, with descriptions of each by Mrs. Johnston (with notation by her that that four of the plates had been stolen). This is a handsome piece of Texas history and natural science that was preserved by General Johnston's wife and later by the DRT. The cover features a design of intertwined initials of Mrs. J.
